The LEED™ Gold for its three office buildings is indicative of its sustainable credentials in the promotion of social, economic and environmental value for its users, visitors and the City of Milan. The project will deliver innovative, Class A energy performance buildings to the Italian market. Other sustainable strategies for Varesine include the use of recyclable material, sustainable timber, natural lighting, floor-to-ceiling glazing to maximize views out, sun-shading and facades that are environmentally responsive. Water efficiency measures in residential
buildings can reduce water usage by 30% or more. Potable water usage will be reduced within the buildings through the specifi cation of low-flow fixtures and automatic sensors. The buildings’ energy consumption will be reduced through the employment of high performance servicing strategies, which include building envelope optimization, efficient HVAC system design such as heat recovery and groundwater cooling. The project aims to achieve a 14% reduction in its energy performance in comparison to a code-standard building.
