A new landscaped garden will be a major feature for occupants and a peaceful oasis for the neighborhood in an otherwise densely built city block. Black Pearl represents contrasts: the curved corner contrasts with the otherwise squared plan of the CBD and the adjacent box-like 70s buildings. Additionally the black granite frame of Black Pearl contrasts with the transparency of the facade in general and at ground level in particular which is designed to allow passers by to view the newly created garden.
Located in the Brussels CBD in the European district, the 8-storey Black Pearl will soon replace a series of chaotic obsolete office buildings.
Black Pearl will be one of the first buildings in the CBD to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating under the 2009
version of BREEAM Europe Commercial. Sustainable features include geothermal technology, triple-glazing,
green roofs and a rainwater basin in the basement
