The company said it has now been forced to pull out of the German market entirely, however its international locations and subsidiaries – including South Africa joint venture Sunselex-Romano – are unaffected by the filing. Sunselex has additional subsidiaries in Italy and the US, and says it is taking a new international direction.

Philip Heinke, of Jaffe attorneys, was selected by the court as the interim insolvency administrator. The Swiss sales and distribution office of Sunselex in Zurich is currently undertaking negotiations with Heinke to take over core competencies and assets for the international realignment of the firm.

Founded in 2007, Sunselex has an installed capacity of 1.2GW.
