How do you think your company can contribute to Denmark becoming a green growth economy?

State of Green is a non-profit, public-private partnership between the Danish Government and the four leading business organisations in Denmark. Our job is to make Danish solutions and competences within energy, climate and the environment known internationally. By focusing on this we make sure that the green transition remains high on the agenda, and we strive to ensure that all Danish companies providing solutions in the green area know about State of Green and the work we do.

Why did the Danish government thought there had to be a company like State of Green?

Answer: State of Green was established in preparation for Denmark hosting the U.N. Climate Conference in Copenhagen (COP15) in 2009. The Government saw that there was a need for an organisation that could gather all the leading players in the green area and together with the Government focus on creating international attention about the Danish experience.

What criteria do you use when selecting a partner?

Answer: All Danish companies, government institutions and authorities holding competences or solutions the green area can free of charge set up their own profile on our webplatform, www.stateofgreen.com, which is also available in a Chinese version: www.stateofgreen.com/cn.

What is in your opinion the key to success with regards to the Danish sustainable market?

Answer: Denmark has a long track-record in the green area, going all the way back to the first oil crisis in the early 1970’s. Since then, Denmark has had a constant focus on energy efficiency and renewables, and we have succeeded in growing our economy by more than 80 percent in real terms over the past 40 years without increasing our overall energy consumption. That’s a remarkable achievement which can serve as inspiration to other countries around the world.
