The market is increasing. In 5 years Green Building Council Estonia expects sustainably certified buildings to be understood by the mainstream for architecture, construction and operation.

Monitoring and providing information to the market Stimulating new business for its members Promoting new sustainable design, construction and operation Training and building unique competitive  advantage through knowledge and skills for its members Introducing best practices, methods and systems to the Estonian market Developing standards and systems which fit to the Estonian market Stimulate new financial opportunities, tax advantages and financial products for sustainable buildings Developing and commenting on new laws and strucures to improve the efficiency of the market

 

4. How is the energy performance changing in buildings nowadays in Estonia?

Awareness of energy efficiency has reached the mainstream All new buildings are being assessed for this criteria Energy efficiency is a competitive advantage for companies producing these developments

 

5. What are the challenges and opportunities EGBC facing in sustainability?  

Raising understanding that sustainable development can be done at equal cost Creating the understanding of the benefits of sustainable development in a low profit-margin economy Developing knowledge and skills in companies to take them to the next level of practice Changing the status quo from ‘how we have always done it’ to a state of continuous improvement  Overcoming opposition from parties with an interest in the current situation/ wanting no change
